WBE Canada would like to wish you HAPPY HOLIDAYS and extend our sincerest THANK YOU to our Women Business Enterprises (WBEs), Corporate Members, Government Officials, Partners and Supporters for contributing to the success of supplier diversity and inclusive procurement in Canada. We are honoured to have so many outstanding community leaders in our group. The impact you are making is measurable.
Our WBEs continue to grow and thrive, achieving success and winning awards across North America for their accomplishments. In 2016 we experienced a 5% growth in WBEs and welcomed over 52 new WBE companies. Also in 2016 we created the new WBE Supplier Advisory Committee to complement the WBE Canada Board of Directors and staff expertise through their added perspectives and knowledge.
Our Corporate Members, corporations, and supporters are increasing education and implementation of supplier diversity in their supply chains at Tier I, II and III levels. We would like to give a special thanks to the over 126 Corporations who hosted roundtables at our events in 2016.
Several major initiatives we have been championing came to fruition in 2016 including the City of Toronto Social Procurement Program, a municipal program, aimed at creating jobs and driving economic growth and the creation of Supplier Diversity Advisor Council (SDAC) in Canada which we co-founded with the other two Canadian councils CGLCC and CAMSC.
Our events and programming like the Conference, Breakfast with Brands, Peer2Peer, Corporate Training, and webinars continued to connect hundreds of Certified Diverse Suppliers and Procurement Professionals and Buyers, across Canada. We even set a new record with over 200 individual (1-1) 10-minute matchmaker meetings during Innovate + Ignite.
Now as we enter our 9th year, we are grateful that 2016 gave us and our community so much to celebrate as supplier diversity and inclusive procurement reaches new heights in Canada. We would like to thank you for your continued support and you can rest assured that in 2017 we will continue to advance and champion Supplier Diversity and Inclusive Procurement across Canada with our programming and outreach. We have lots planned and look forward to helping you grow in 2017.
