Amesika Baëta joined Export Development Canada’s (EDC) Small-Medium Enterprise team in April 2014. Amesika assists SME companies become more internationally competitive, by providing market intel, risk mitigation solutions and working capital enhancement, in partnership with their financial institution. 

Prior to EDC, she worked at I.E.Canada, Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters as Director of Member Relations & Development and the U.S. Commercial Service at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto as a Trade Associate. From 2013-2014, she was President of the Toronto Chapter of Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT), a worldwide network of chapters that promote women doing business internationally, by providing networking opportunities, export education and global business contacts. She remains an active member and a strong advocate for the organization.

She has a Master's degree from the University of Manchester, UK in International Development and an Honours Bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto in International Relations with minors in Political Science and Art History.
